Canadian Registration Number (CRN)

In Canada, pressure equipment including fittings, piping systems, pressure vessels and boilers operating over 15 psi (1 bar) require a valid Canadian Registration Number (CRN).

The registration is governed by Canadian Standards Association CSA B51 Standard, which provides guidelines for the registration of mechanical designs including, but not limited to, boilers, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, steam traps, piping systems, and fittings. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel (BPV) Code and various other design Codes (including MSS, API, ANSI, UL etc.) are referenced by this standard and outlines the rules for design.
As a leading manufacturer of filtration equipment, Fil-Trek has the expertise to work with you in handling all aspects of CRN registration for provinces across Canada.

Fil-Trek’s mechanical design team has expert knowledge and experience to perform design calculations required by the various sections of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) including vessels to ASME Section I, IV, VIII as well as piping to ASME B31.1 and B31.3.

We can work with you for CRN registration for all types of pressure vessels governed by CSA B51 including;

  • Evaluating the validity of quality control programs
  • ASME Code Calculation (ASME)
  • Reviewing drawings
  • CRN project management
  • Code training and knowledge transfer
  • CRN Application documentation completion

We work with you to provide end-to-end solutions, covering all your CRN registration and custom design project needs.
